With this homemade caramel frappuccino, you can have frosty caramel coffee goodness at home.
Caramel Frappuccinos are a tasty treat, but they are horrible for your pocketbook. Making coffee at home is a great way to save money, and something I fail at on a regular bases. I love coffee shops for the atmosphere and the people watching. In an attempt to make more coffee at home and save money, I have decided to start trying to make more coffee drinks at home. This caramel frappuccino is the first try.
To create a homemade caramel frappuccino, all you need is cold brewed coffee, caramel sauce and milk. Cold brewed coffee is the easiest and best way to brew coffee for cold beverages. If you want to know more about how to cold brew coffee, you can check out The Pioneer Woman. Using the method described on her blog, I make a smaller portion using 10 cups water and ⅔ cup ground coffee. It lasts me for five days stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. For the caramel frappuccino, I find that the coffee is sweet enough without any additional sugar. If you want to make it sweeter you can melt the sugar with hot water. The ratio should be 1 part sugar to 1 part water.
- 2 cups ice
- 1 cup cold brewed coffee
- ¼ cup caramel sauce
- ¼ cup milk or ice cream
Garnish with whipped cream and extra caramel sauce.
- Blend the Caramel Frappuccino: In a blender, blend the first four ingredients on high till they are smooth.
- Serve: Pour into a glass and garnish with whipped cream and extra caramel sauce.
